Cat Stories Newsletter, Issue #003 -- Cats and Christmas
December 10, 2014
Cats and Christmas
Cats and Christmas go together like Santa Claus and his Reindeer, tinsel and lights, and decorative wrapping paper and glittering ribbon.
I can’t imagine celebrating the holiday season without Abby and Dodger, who bless us with all kinds of festive feline entertainment.
For weeks we prepare with Abby and Dodger’s help. Everything we do must be stamped with their “Paw of Approval”.
The other day we were putting up Christmas lights outside. Each and every bulb was in its place, and perfectly lit.
Dodger walked down the line. Those lower down received a special scent marking as he rubbed along the tip of each bulb.
Nodding his approval, he gave a final flick of his fluffy tail before moving on to his afternoon routine . . . scouting our property line for intruders.
Later, we put up our Christmas tree inside the house. Abby twined herself through the coil of lights, which were lit as we checked for damaged bulbs and wires.
“See! I’m a Christmas Tree!” she trilled.
Indeed, she was well adorned, a red bulb jauntily cocked off to one side of her head.
It goes without saying . . . it’s going to be a kitty Christmas!
Cat Lover’s ShowcaseBefore we proceed any further, I would like to take a moment to thank all the wonderful guest authors for their contributions during the month of November.

Here is a fun twist on an old favorite!
“A Cat's Christmas”
"'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
'Cuz the cat had pounced on him and tore him apart- Ate his mousey intestines And chewed up his heart.
Kitty thought he heard sleigh bells, which made him take pause- He stopped daintily licking the blood from his claws.
"Must be Santa" thought Kitty (that quite clever cat) 'Cuz nobody else climbs down the chimney like that.
Indeed it was ol' Santa, so jolly and fat With a load of presents and all for the cat!
"Wow, the best Christmas ever!"
Kitty thought with a purr,
Then he coughed up a hairball
and shed some more fur."
